RIP SGT Mikasobe
When Joe was in HOW Battery, he had the great opportunity to get to know a young SPC from Hawaii, J. Mikasobe. He was a terrific soldier and had a wife and young baby who had to stay back in Hawaii. A few months before Porter was born, SPC Mikasobe was diagnosed with toe cancer and had to have a toe amputated. They thought that they had gotten all of it, but the cancer ended up spreading to his lymph nodes and leg. He had the lymph nodes removed but was immediately put in the ICU for several months due to being so susceptible to illnesses. His cancer kept spreading and eventually shut down his kidneys. Joe visited him in the hospital to try to cheer him up. Eventually, Mikasobe was given 2 weeks to live and sent home to Hawaii to live out his life. He ended up living for months more at home with his family. He was promoted at home in Hawaii to SGT. We got word this afternoon that he passed away at the age of 31 with a toddler and a beautiful wife at home. If you could please keep the family in your prayers it would be much appreciated.

My heart goes out to this young father's family and to Joe for mourning such a loss.
I will definitely be praying for his family!
